Harry Potter series is getting a sequel on HBO

According to Bloomberg, negotiations between Warner Bros. about the creation of a series about the Harry Potter universe are close to completion. The company's vision is for this production to become the standard for its video streaming platform. This year, HBO Max will change its name, and its goal is that the new service, which will supposedly be called Max, will attract the attention of the public through its original content.

While this isn't the first time we've heard about the Harry Potter series, we've never been able to find out so many details before. First, production will be handled by HBO, whose track record of original small-screen projects is full of hits. Without going into too much detail, they recently managed to turn The Last of Us, an adaptation of the popular video game, into an entertainment phenomenon.

Another important point, but at the same time raising many questions, is that it will be based on the main work of J.K. Rowling. In fact, Warner's goal is for each of the seven books to have its own season.

The foregoing leads us to consider two possibilities. First, they're getting a reboot, which would be pretty surprising given the popularity of the films. Another option is for them to tell alternate stories that take place in parallel with the experiences of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Unfortunately, this is not specified in the report.

What is truly guaranteed is that J.K. Rowling will take part in the series about Harry Potter. Warner did her best to convince her to take part in the series. Bloomberg claims the HBO Max replacement will also be different in that it offers series and movies based on franchises people already know. Among them, of course, Harry Potter. However, the above does not mean that they will forget to develop new stories and characters.
