Peter Dinklage will play The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
In the "Hunger Games" prequel, the 53-year-old actor will play the role of Capitol Academy chancellor Kasky Highbottom.
The Westeros legend is making his way to Panem. "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage has signed on to star in "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." The fantasy thriller directed by Francis Lawrence is scheduled to premiere on November 17, 2023. Dinklage will join Tom Blythe on set as young Coriolanus Snow, Rachel Segler as Lucy Gray and Hunter Schaefer as Tigris Snow.
"As production progresses, we couldn't be happier with how the cast of the project is shaping up and are happy to give Peter Dicklage a warm welcome in Panem," said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Caan. "Peter is not just a fan-favorite actor who grabs everyone's attention with every role he plays. He is one of the best living actors. He will bring to the screen the charisma and authority that are essential to the role of the Dean of the Academy."
The plot of the new film will be based on the 2020 book of the same name, set decades before the exploits of Kitniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games." The screenplay will be written by Michael Lessley.
