Filming of "Dune 2" has started
The fantasy drama will be produced in Hungary, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Italy.
Denis Villeneuve is "returning" to Arrakis, having finally begun filming the sequel to his acclaimed blockbuster of last year, "Dune. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have already scheduled the premiere of "Dune 2" for November 2023. Filming will take place alternately in Europe and the Middle East.
The official synopsis of the new film reads, "The next film explores Paul Atreides' mythical journey with Chani and the Fremen on the warpath to avenge the conspirators who destroyed his family. Faced with a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he tries to prevent a terrible future that only he can foresee."
Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have also confirmed that Timothy Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and others will return for part two.
