Kirsten Dunst is 40: What life is life for an actress, became a star early

It's not often that a child actor continues to grow creatively and develop a career with age, but Dunst can boast that. She is now called one of the best actresses of her generation.

There is a well-known stereotype that actors who become famous in childhood and adolescence burn out early. They find themselves involved in the loose Hollywood lifestyle or cannot overcome the images they once created on the screen. All sorts of temptations for the popular child actor is not often possible to avoid, to continue to work and build professionalism by choosing age-appropriate roles. Kirsten Dunst is one such actress. And now many people associate her name with relatively recent projects such as "How to Be a God in Central Florida" (2019) or "Fatal Temptation" (2017) than with "Jumanji" (1995) or the "Spider-Man" trilogy (2002, 2004, 2007).

She has persisted in developing her career and it is only getting better with time. Certainly the past year has been one of her most intense. Acting has been supplemented by mothering and family responsibilities. So it's not surprising that her current life is in time pressure.

She is happily engaged.

Kirsten Dunst has been engaged to actor Jesse Plemons since 2017. They met two years earlier when they were casting for their roles as spouses in the second season of the TV series "Fargo." They soon fell in love and started building a relationship. Yes, so successfully that in the intervening time they managed to become parents. According to the couple, as soon as the children are a little older, they intend to walk down the aisle.

She is the mother of two young sons.

The couple's first son Ennis was born in the spring of 2018, and their second son James was born in the summer of 2021. When the latter was only four months old, he already weighed more than 8 pounds. "He's an angel, but a hungry angel. And a heavy angel," Dunst joked in an interview. With two little ones in her arms, it's no surprise that Kirsten is very busy right now.

She and her boyfriend are often left with the kids one at a time.

For the past few months, Jesse Plemons has been away from home filming Martin Scorsese's The Flower Moon Killers. So Kirsten has been alone with the children all this time. "For entire four months I didn't sleep at night," she described the difficult parenting experience.

She starred in a new film.

At the end of 2021, in addition to the Dunst family, she was promoting her new film, the Jane Campion drama "The Power of the Dog". In it she played with Benedict Cumberbatch and again with Jesse Plemons. The picture is set in the 1920s on a remote ranch in Montana, where its tyrant owner (Cumberbatch) opposes his brother (Plemons) and his wife (Dunst). This is the second picture for the pair in which they have played spouses. Both Kirsten and Jessie were nominated for Oscars, but were left without the cherished statuettes. Although the actress was very hopeful that luck wouldn't pass her by this time, "It would mean so much to my family. And it would be great to celebrate, because I know family and friends have been waiting a long time for me to win."

Quite naturally, she gets tired.

Parenthood is often fraught with sleep deprivation, especially when the children are young, as Dunst and Plemons are. What's more, the family is about to move to Texas, where Jessie will be working on a new mini-series for HBO. Traveling is a whole new series of stress factors, Kirsten says. Such a trip will be very challenging for her.

Her image has changed.

Many know her from such childhood and teen roles in movies as "Jumanji" (1995) and "Suicide Virgin" (1999). But Kirsten's career changed, she managed to fit in perfectly with the more complex characters. Growing up, she established herself in Hollywood with such films as "Marie Antoinette" (2006), "Melancholia" (2011) and "Fatal Temptation" (2017). Viewers now associate her name more with her roles in the TV series "Fargo" and "On Becoming a God in Central Florida." Explaining her approach in working on "adult" characters, she says she always tries to make sure they are genuinely frustrated and desperate.

A new theme park is based on one of her movies.

An amusement park based on the 1995 film "Jumanji" opened in Italy this month. It was part of the Gardaland series of animated territories in the commune of Ronca. In the 1995 film, Kirsten played Judy, who participated in an adventure based on the mysterious game. Whether the actress was present at the opening of the new amusement park is not reported. However, she herself has repeatedly said that "Jumanji" helped her gain experience, and that her partner in that movie, Robin Williams, was an example of professional excellence for her.

She plans to work on a reboot of "Bring It On" (2000).

Kirsten Dunst's colleague on that sports comedy, Gabriel Union, revealed that they plan to reshoot it. The actresses have already met with director Peyton Reed and screenwriter Jessica Bendinger, and they have all agreed to work on a new version of the story about the irrepressible members of the cheerleading team. True, the plot this time will focus on black woman Isis (Union), captain of the Clovers. The authors decided to show her "more humane and holistic" compared to the original film.
