Kaley Cuoco to play in "Based on a True Story" series

The project will be filmed in the genre of black comedy and will show the "obsession" of ordinary Americans with crimes that occurred in reality.

Kaley Cuoco has signed on to star in a new series coming to streaming service Peacock. The plot will revolve around "a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives are unexpectedly intertwined amid the lunacy of ordinary Americans with real-life crime, murder and the slow sinking of the toilet seat," according to a press release from the project.

Kaylee will play a married woman named Ava Bartlett. Other plot details are being kept under wraps for now. Emmy nominee Craig Rosenberg ("The Boys," "Staying Alive") will write the script and executive produce along with Jason Bateman ("Ozark") and Michael Costigan. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, will handle production.

Cuoco recently received her second Emmy Award nomination for best performance in a lead role on the television series "Flight Attendant" (from 2020). In May, she announced that the show's second season would likely be her last.
