Jenna Ortega has left the Scream franchise. She will not star in the new, seventh part of the horror film. The reason is Ortega’s busy schedule working on the second season of the Wednesday series. This information comes the day after Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream due to her social media posts about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Barrera incident has nothing to do with Ortega's situation. The producers were aware of her departure from Scream this spring, before the strike of Hollywood writers and actors. The start date for filming the second season of Wednesday has not yet been announced. But Jenna still has to work on a few scenes on the set of the fantasy film “Beetlejuice 2,” which, like “Wednesday,” is being directed by Tim Burton.

In the fifth and sixth "Scream" Ortega and Barrera played sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter and thereby practically breathed new life into the forgotten franchise about a killer hiding under the mask of Ghost Face. Earlier this year, it was announced that the seventh installment of Scream would be filmed under the direction of director Christopher Landon.
