Netflix is celebrating victory in the bidding war for The Fifth Wheel, a comedy starring Kim Kardashian. Several major players in the market, including distributors and streaming services, competed to acquire the rights to the film. But two of the five companies backed out at the last minute, and Kim and co-writers Paula Pell and Janine Brito signed a deal with Netflix.
Pell, an SNL comedy alum, will produce "The Fifth Wheel" with Kardashian. The plot of the comedy is still kept secret, but it is known that Kim will play the very “fifth wheel” in the women’s team, which bothers everyone by getting into ridiculous situations.
Kardashian, a successful businesswoman behind the Skims lingerie company, as well as a long-time participant in the TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has long dreamed of working in a big movie. She recently starred in the 11th season of the anthology television series American Horror Story alongside Emma Roberts.
