Jennifer Lopez has signed up for a new, interesting project. She will star in the film adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. The film will be directed by Bill Condon from his own script.

The musical will take place in an Argentine prison in 1981. Lopez will play a fictional character named Aurora, who was created by hairdresser Luis Molina, who was imprisoned for eight years for a sex crime. To make life behind bars easier, Molina imagines films starring Aurora as a classic Hollywood diva, including one in which she portrays Spider-Woman with a deadly kiss. The life of a dreamer is turned upside down when the Marxist Valentin Arrega Paz moves in with him. Cellmates form an unbreakable bond.

Condon plans to begin filming the new film in April next year in New Jersey.
