Many people “didn’t see” Meryl Streep in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada”

Not everyone in Hollywood believed that the actress was capable of portraying the odious Miranda Priestly.

Meryl Streep received her second Oscar for her role as the storm of her subordinates, Runway magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly in the dramatic comedy The Devil Wears Prada (2006). But, according to the film’s producer, Wendy Finerman, this happened rather contrary to the logic of others than thanks to it.

"Anne (Hathaway), as we know, was a good, ordinary girl. She went to Vasser (college). She is so 100 percent American," Wendy told the Hollywood Gold podcast about Streep's co-star Anne Hathaway, who plays the secretary. Priestley Andy Sachs - And Meryl, people thought we were crazy. Some people said to me, “Are you out of your mind? She's never been funny a day in her life." But they were wrong, she was funny. But it was a completely different world for her. I think that was part of the fun of it, seeing her in all the outfits."

Feinerman added that before filming The Devil Wears Prada, Streep had experience working in comedies. Suffice it to recall her role in the film “Death Becomes Her” (1992), in which her partner was Goldie Hawn.
