Jacob Elordi, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley and Christian Convery will star in a new movie from acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro. It will be a film adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel "Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus" (1818). Elordi will play the role of the iconic monster, replacing the previously confirmed Andy Garfield, who dropped out of the project due to work schedule conflicts.

It was previously reported that Oscar Isaac will portray Victor Frankenstein on screen, with Mia Goth also set to star. Del Toro will write, direct and produce the movie. The plot will follow Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but selfish scientist who, in a dangerous experiment, revives a "cyborg" - a creature engineered from parts of dead humans. This leads to irreversible consequences for both the scientist himself and his loved ones.

Del Toro has been planning to adapt Shelley's novel for some time now. It remains to be seen whether his picture will be a costume-based, historical fantasy or whether the characters and conflict will be placed in a modern setting.
