Gerard Butler will star in Universal's "How to Train Your Dragon" movie

The live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation's acclaimed franchise will once again be handled by Dean DeBlois, who worked on all three animated films.

Universal Pictures' film based on the cartoon series "How to Train Your Dragon" has added a performer to one of the roles. In filming will take part Gerard Butler. In the animated franchise, he voiced the father of the main character Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III - Stoick, now the actor will portray him on the screen, as they say, in all its glory. On the role of Hiccup approved Mason Thames, and his romantic interest Astrid will embody Nico Parker.

Will write the script, shoot and produce the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" director of all three DreamWorks Animation Dean DeBlois. At the box office, this animated franchise was a huge success, collecting a total of $1.6 billion.

The premiere of the film is scheduled for June 13, 2025.
