Lucasfilm announced the development of a movie based on "The Mandalorian"

As with the TV series, Jon Favreau will direct the creative process.

The Mandalorian & Grogu has set its course for the big screen. Lucasfilm has announced that the working title for the project is The Mandalorian & Grogu, at least for now. "The Mandalorian" series creator Jon Favreau will direct and produce the feature film, which is scheduled to shoot later this year.

"I love telling stories from the rich world George Lucas created," Favreau noted in a press release. - The prospect of portraying The Mandalorian & Grogu on the big screen is incredibly inspiring."

As a reminder, The Mandalorian series about the wanderings of Jedi Dean Jarin and his assistant and apprentice Grogu, or baby Yoda, was released on Disney+ in 2019. The project received positive reviews from critics as well as seven Emmy Awards.
