Kate Hudson to play basketball boss in Netflix series

Kate Hudson hasn't often pleased viewers with her appearances on the big screen lately. Three children, the desire to make music and record songs make themselves felt - the actress simply does not have enough time. But for the sake of the new Netflix series, which will be directed by Mindy Kaling, Kate decided to put everything on hold to play the main role.

The project first became known in June 2021, when it was decided to make a story in the sports drama genre in the form of 10 episodes. According to the official synopsis, the plot will follow Isla Gordon (Hudson), who is forced to save the family business and her own brother after a major corporate scandal. “She has been asked to become president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most professional basketball franchises. Ambitious and often ignored, Ayla must prove to skeptical relatives, board members and fans that she can cope with the job that falls on her in the unpredictable male world of sports.

Kaling will not only direct, but will also co-write the script and serve as an executive producer. As a director, she worked on the TV series “The Office” (2005-2013), and in Hollywood she is better known for her acting work. In particular, she starred in the action film “Ocean’s 8” (2018), the drama series “The Morning Show” (since 2019), etc.
