Gru, his family and his minions return in the first trailer for the new fourth installment of the Despicable Me franchise. Seven years after the release of the previous episode. As you can see in the published video, the family of the ambitious and not always successful hero now consists of a wife, three daughters and son Gru Jr. The kid even refuses to smile at his father, much less say: “Dad.”
The trailer also reveals that Gru will face off against a new bad guy... and a bad lady. They were voiced in the original version by Will Ferrell and Sofia Vergara. The script for the fourth part was written by Mike White (“White Lotus”), and the director was Chris Reno, who worked on the previous, third film in the animated series.
Family-oriented, the Despicable Me franchise launched in 2010, with sequels following in 2013 and 2017. The films have grossed more than $2.5 billion worldwide. Despicable Me 4 will be released in theaters on July 3, 2024.
