Michael Shoulter's new film The Idea of You has received a premiere date. The romantic comedy will screen at the SXSW Film Festival, held annually in mid-March in Austin. With the announcement of this news, the first still from the film starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine was published online.
The plot is based on the novel of the same name by Robynne Lee and follows Solen (Hathaway), who is forced to accompany her teenage daughter to the famous Coachella music festival. Although the girl was promised a trip by her father, the heroine’s ex-husband, at the last moment he found more important things to do. At a party, a woman unexpectedly meets Hayes (Golitsyn), the leader of a musical group and the object of admiration for thousands of young admirers. Events develop so quickly that Solen, before she even has time to think, finds herself drawn into an affair with a teenage idol. And here she has to re-evaluate her life principles and come to terms with increased attention.
The film also stars Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Victor White, Raymond Cham and others. Hathaway, in addition to playing the title role, served as an executive producer. “The Idea of You is a sexy, unpredictable masterpiece with a fresh look at love, age, attraction and the timeless nature of human connection,” said Claudette Godfrey, vice president of Film & TV. The world premiere of the film is scheduled for May 2.
