Filming is scheduled to begin in May this year, 23 years after Fielding's character first delighted audiences. The pre-production stage has already begun.
Renée Zellweger will once again play the lead role, and she is currently looking for a house in the UK to live in while working on the film. According to the plot, Bridget will be shown as a single mother raising two children and trying to arrange her personal life with the help of social networks and dating applications. The previous film, Bridget Jones 3, was released eight years ago, in 2016.
In addition to Zellweger, her partners Colin Firth and Hugh Grant will appear in the fourth part, playing the heroine’s lovers and rivals, Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver. “Renee is thrilled to be returning to Bridget Jones. The actress loves her. Single mother fever with a quirky sense of humor is expected to hit London this spring,” sources close to the project told the newspaper.
Unlike filming previous films in the franchise, Zellweger will live in London this time not alone, but with her boyfriend, TV presenter Ant Anstead. Previously, the actress occupied a small apartment in the Kensington area, but now she plans to settle down with her lover in a larger area, since it is possible that one of Ent’s three children will join them.
When the author of the Bridget Jones books, Helen Fielding, was asked about the fourth film adaptation, she replied that each film, based on its books, is regarded as a miracle. “I think it’s really difficult to make films and make them well, we all really want to do that. Therefore, I hope that the fourth picture will work out. I would love to see it."

Last year there were rumors that the project might not happen due to the Hollywood writers' strike that began in May, which was then supported by the actors. But insiders called this information “nonsense.”
The first film, Bridget Jones's Diary, was released in 2001 and grossed more than $280 million, 10 times its budget.
