Emma Stone's best roles: from panic attack girl to two-time Oscar winner

Emma Stone began her career as a child with participation in theater productions of the theater in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was born. And by the time she was 35 years old, she had already won two Oscars in the category "Best Actress". One - for her role in "La La Land" (2016), the other - for her role in "The Poor Things" (2023). The actress became famous for her energetic, with a touch of comic timing, screen presence. And it is very hard to believe now that as a child she suffered from high anxiety, up to panic attacks. Healing came from a place no one expected - the stage, which helped her focus on the present moment.

"All of my core emotions are productive," Stone told NRP about turning anxiety into creative energy. - The present moment demands attention, so it's like meditation because anxiety lives solely in the past or future, which you have no control over. At the same time acting requires you to be present, to listen, to look at the other person, to live that experience in the body given to you. The realization of this was a huge gift for me and remains to this day, "- admitted the actress.

At the age of 12, Emma suggested to her parents to transfer her to home schooling to spend more time acting. And at 15 she already made a presentation to them about why she should go to Los Angeles to record the pilot season. She was eager to finally make the transition from children's theater to professional television work.

One of Stone's breakthroughs was the 2007 comedy "Superbad", followed by the youth hit "Easy Girl" (2013), in which she played the lead role for the first time. Since then, Emma has appeared in a large number of films, boldly crossing genre boundaries and working with the biggest directors of our time.

The story of poor orphan Estella's transformation into the iconic villainess from "101 Dalmatians" Cruella De Vil appealed to many viewers. As a result, the free-thinking, energetic, adventurous and very creative heroine played by Stone helped to collect Disney more than $200 million at the worldwide box office.

But when the female servants she "discovered" begin sharing stories of injustice in one voice, her character grows up dramatically.

Stone appears in this drama about a once successful actor trying to regain his former glory as his daughter. The relationship with her turbulent father cannot be called perfect. Emma manages to perfectly express this mixture of love, indulgence and at the same time faith in Riggan Thomson, played by Michael Keaton.

When a virus turns most of the human race into zombies, a motley crew has to band together to make their way to seemingly safety in a Los Angeles amusement park. Wichita's conniving sister (Emma Stone), Die Hard (Abigail Breslin), and fellow travelers Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) are all part of this team.

As lovely as Olivia Colman, who won an Oscar for her role as the capricious Queen Anne, Emma's character, the conniving Abigail, really drives the narrative in Yorgos Lanthimos' sharp comedy. It's interesting to watch Abigail eventually get what she wants, and at the same time, get what she deserves.

"Crazy, Stupid, Love" (2011)

Once again, Stone is the daughter, this time of the protagonist Cal, played by Steve Carell. While her father is learning from advanced mentor Jacob (Ryan Gosling) how to seduce women, Hannah falls in love with a young man. The transplanted brain of her unborn child makes the heroine a little girl in an adult body.
