Series based on the Harry Potter universe: what is known about the project

After years of anticipation, Harry Potter fans received the long-awaited news - Warner Bros. Discovery and the streaming service Max announced the development of a new series based on the famous book and cinematic universe.

Kathleen Jordan, Martha Hiller, Michael Lesslie, Tom Moran and Francesca Gardiner have all been named as possible creators of a new Harry Potter series. Their track record includes such acclaimed shows as Young Bounty Hunters, The Last Kingdom, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds and Descendants.

In addition, the creators face a difficult task in selecting the cast. They will have to find young but already experienced performers capable of leading such an iconic and successful franchise as Harry Potter. At the same time, the budget of the new series, according to preliminary estimates, will be comparable to such a large-scale project as HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” the production of which cost almost $200 million.

Although the exact release time frame for the series has not yet been revealed, it is known that it is in the early stages of development. The creators understand the responsibility they take on when adapting Harry Potter into a television show, and pay special attention to the careful development of every element of the future project.
