"White Collar" is returning to TV screens. The creator of the original series, Jeff Esten, has revealed that he is working on a new version of the popular project about the FBI. "We are going to do a reboot. I am writing the script," he told Variety during a panel discussion at TV Fest. The leading actor Matt Bomer assured that he will be part of the new project: "I am in it!" "It will be the original cast," the screenwriter added, meaning that in addition to Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen will also be returning to their roles.

"It's a fantastic script, and it answers all the questions that you have if you have seen the show," DeKay said. "And it will attract people to the show who have not seen it at all. Both sides of the sword are sharpened." According to Tim, the new project will also pay homage to Willie Garson, who played Mozzi in the original series and passed away in 2021. "With such sensitivity and heart," Thiessen said. "I told Jeff after I finished reading it, I was so excited, but I also had tears in my eyes, for good reasons. You get caught up in the tension, the thrill, the characters and the love in this rebooted version."

Esten made it clear that White Collar has recently seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to streaming services, as has its other show Suits (2011-2019), which is also getting a sequel. It was after Suits' heyday that the idea of making a new White Collar was born. "As time went on, it seemed like a long shot," Jeff said. "But credit to Suits for starting this streaming trend. They were great and got people watching White Collar on Netflix. It's doing really, really well right now. It was like, 'Hey, let's do another one.'" Matt Bomer played hardened con man Neal Caffrey in White Collar, who is forced by fate to advise FBI Special Agent Peter Burke (D.K.) on solving crimes in the business and high-tech industries. The show, which ran for 81 episodes from 2009 to 2014, ended with an open-ended ending that could easily be developed further in terms of the plot. “If you watched until the finale, where Neal is walking around Paris, that in itself is a new setting,” Esten noted. “I always leave it open.”
