Tom Cruise is an undeniable movie star and a driving force in Hollywood today. He has achieved this status through hard work throughout his 40-year career. He has many awards and nominations and his fortune is estimated at $600 million.

In his filmography there are frankly weak films, such as "Cocktail" (1988), and real masterpieces - "Rain Man" (1988), "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" (2018) and others. Since the late 90s, however, he has revised his approach to work, preferring not only to act in films, but also to produce them. Since then, his professional flair practically does not give misfires. Well, and Tom's devotion to projects is legendary.

In his personal life, Cruise is not as successful as in his career: three broken marriages, three children and the lifestyle of a free man, here, for the past 12 years. In this review, let's find out what he himself has said at different times about success and relationships with people.

On hard work and passion for the acting profession

"I belong to the type of people who live by the principle of 'it's either all or nothing'. And when something interests me, I give myself to it completely."

"I love what I do. I'm very proud of it. And I can't do something half, three-quarters or nine-tenths. If I plan to do something, I do it to the max.".

"When I was an aspiring actor, people tried to put some labels on me before I even realized anything about myself. But I still remember thinking, 'This is what I love to do, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to do it forever'."

"How do I live my life? I'm never late for a movie set. I make movies that I believe in. I'm very fortunate to be doing what I love."

"Very many birthdays I spent on set, totally immersed in my work."

"I give myself entirely to my movies, that's why I work so hard. And I always advise young colleagues to take responsibility. It's not that hard. Write your own checks, be responsible."

"Awards are wonderful. I get nominated a lot, and I've won a lot of awards. But they are not my goal. If it happens, awesome. If it doesn't, it's still amazing."

"What excites me about acting and what I can't really explain are the moments that cause me great surprise myself."

"Before, when people would look at me, it could be unnerving. People would just stare at you without looking away. And I used to get nervous."

"I like working with people who I enjoy being around, who I admire, who are really smart and talented, and with whom we can solve a problem."

"I'm always challenging myself and looking for something I haven't dealt with before."
"It's important to be relaxed at work, just like in life. Don't do everything with great tension. Then you can let go of the situation and 'not act' but live".

"I love adventure movies, I'm just fascinated by them. They're pure movies, you get immersed in them and you get lost. That's the challenge for me - I want to give the audience that adventure, that entertainment."

"In life, I've always wanted adventure and to venture into different fields. The great thing about being an actor is that I was able to see what life is like as a fighter pilot or a race car driver. I learned how to fly airplanes, bolides, learned about motorcycles. In Rock of Ages (2012), I mastered music, learned how to sing and see the world through the eyes of a singer. I've carried those interests and lessons through my life. I guess I always strive for competence."

On life and family

"When you have to deal with a lot of problems, you either sink or swim."

"I'm not interested in who you are, everyone has their own challenges in life."

"I want to live in a world without conflict, without madness. I want people to be okay. I don't even think that's what I want for myself. More for the people around me, that's what I want."

"I've gotten really good at learning how to plan my life, how to plan a scene and prepare myself for knowledge, how to save energy, how to expend it, how to know when to act and have the reserves available to be able to do it. You have to think about it because it gives you stamina."

"I love children. I was once a child myself."

"I'd like to live with my sisters (Tom has three older sisters). We've always been very close."

"I'm always around my mom and sisters. And I've always wanted to be a father, a husband."

"My values haven't changed. Family has always been important to me. When I'm filming, everyone visits me."

"What's important for children is your love, protection and help as they grow and define themselves. As a parent, it's my responsibility to help them become independent and gain all the knowledge and breadth of perspective on the world and life".

"I don't really consult others. I'm a thinking type of person, and if I know it's right, I'm not going to ask anybody else about it. I don't say, "Look, what do you think about it?". I make every decision myself - in my career, in my life.".
