It's official: the fourth season of the popular historical fantasy series "Bridgerton" will focus on the love story of confirmed bachelor Benedict Bridgerton. In general, the plot of the project is built around a large family living in England during the Regency era. Dominic is played by Luke Thompson, who did not have as much screen time as his "relatives" in previous seasons. But in the new episodes, everything will change. The plot will follow the events of Julia Quinn's third novel "An Offer From a Gentleman". Throughout the book, Benedict searches for the "lady in silver" whom he met at a masquerade ball. As the story progresses, it turns out that she is a lower-class girl named Sophie Beckett.

According to the logline for Bridgerton, published by Netflix: “Season 4 of the series will center around bohemian son Benedict. Despite the happy marriages of his older and younger brothers, Benedict is reluctant to settle down — until he meets a charming ‘lady in silver’ at his mother’s costume party.”

In an interview with Variety in June, new Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell revealed that Benedict was originally planned to be featured in season 3. That season would have seen the “passions” between his brother Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). However, the decision was made to “keep his fate in mind” until season 4, in order to devote the main storyline of the new episodes entirely to him.

In season 3, Benedict had a relationship with the unfree lady Tilly Arnold (Hannah New). However, when she finally decided to return to a permanent partner, Benedict ended the relationship with her and went on a "solo voyage." "This character has always been a little lost - or too free, depending on how you like to evaluate him. But in the new series, he will try to find someone more stable than himself," Luke Thompson said in an interview with Netflix.

Thompson's transition to the lead role will come after three seasons of supporting roles on the show. As a reminder, the first season focused on the romantic relationship between Benedict's sister, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), the second season revolved around Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), and the third, as already mentioned, around Colin and Penelope.

In addition to the listed characters, the Bridgerton family also includes Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Francesca (Hannah Dodd), Gregory (Will Tilston), and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt). And all of them are set to receive their own "seasons" within the project. Its chief executive producer Shonda Rhimes and showrunner Brownell plan to film all eight seasons based on Queen's books. According to the authors, they are already developing the storylines of Eloise and Francesca. Although Netflix has only announced the renewal of Bridgerton for a fourth season. The premiere date has not yet been determined, information will appear later.
