Netflix TV series Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer is extended
Creator Ryan Murphy intends to turn the project into an anthology and further explore high-profile cases of crime.
The press service of the streaming service Netflix announced that the series "Monster" will be extended for two seasons. This was facilitated by the huge success that accompanied the first season. It was officially called "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" and focused on the life and crimes of an American serial killer. According to the press release, each of the two new seasons will focus on "other odious figures who have had an impact on society."
Upon its Sept. 21 release, "Monster" debuted at the top of both Netflix and the Nielsen streaming chart. On the latter, the series held the lead for three weeks. According to Netflix, it was the second most popular season on English-language television. "Audiences couldn't take their eyes off the screen while watching "Monster" explained Netflix head of international television Bela Bajaria. "The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan masterfully told a story that took over the world. The success is due to Ryan's distinctive voice, which created a cultural sensation. And we're thrilled to continue in the same vein with the characters of "Monster."
Evan Peters played the lead role in the project, and Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald, Michael Lernd and Niecy Nash also participated. Murphy and Brennan served as executive producers along with Peters et al. Carl Franklin directed and produced the first episode of this past season.
