Self-employment: In what areas you can make good money in 2023

The number of self-employed in Russia has grown to over six million and is expected to exceed 11 million in the next few years. This is about 15% of the economically active population of the country.
What you can make good money in 2023, Sergey Sukhostavets, Operations Director of the Rocket Work technology platform, told the RG agency.

Cars. The cost of cars, their maintenance and spare parts has increased, so there is a need for private auto repair specialists. Thus, the self-employed can provide services to car owners or rent a workplace in a car service.

Education. The high demand for self-employed teachers has been around for a long time, especially in recent years. Finding customers in any part of Russia is becoming easier thanks to the widespread use of digital services for communication and video conferencing.

Clothing. As a result of the departure of many foreign brands, there is enough space in the clothing segment. There is always a demand for clothes, especially when the seasons change. As for the self-employed, they can offer services such as tailoring, atelier services, and produce their own clothes. At the same time, cooperation with other self-employed will increase sales.

Home goods, furniture. This category of goods usually sags during a crisis, but does not completely disappear. These goods will be sold, and with the departure of foreign companies, there will be more space below, including for private initiatives and factories.

Finance and jurisprudence. Accountants, financial analysts and lawyers are always in demand. Accounting services are consistently among the most requested outsourcing services.

IT-sphere. In the information technology industry, there is a consistently high demand for personnel. And with so many companies choosing to work with freelancers these days, you can expect a steady stream of jobs for digital professionals.

Courier service. Courier services are in high demand. There are more vacancies than applicants, and where demand is high, fees also increase. Businesses are mainly interested in delivery services, and they are usually aimed at the self-employed, since they are easy to work with.

Transportation. This type of activity has become one of the most popular and in demand among the self-employed, and next year this trend will continue. Taxi drivers with their own cars are also in demand, which can serve both private individuals and provide their services through a fleet of vehicles.

Sphere of beauty. Hairdressing services, manicure - this is something without which it is difficult to imagine life in the modern world. And although the crisis reduces the activity of consumers in relation to services that are not necessary, for private masters who can compete on price with salons, demand remains high.

Cleaning. There is no doubt that cleaning services are among the most popular destinations among the self-employed. Here you can count on both private orders and orders from companies.

Competition in this area, especially in the regions, is not particularly high, and starting a business does not require a lot of expenses - no special equipment, no special skills.
