From June 1, Thailand may start levying tourist tax
All foreign tourists entering the country will be charged a fee of 150-300 baht.
The Thai government has approved a decision that all foreign tourists entering the country will be charged a landing tax ranging from 150 baht for those arriving through land borders to 300 baht for those arriving through airports, local media reported.
According to a preliminary schedule, the fee will be introduced on June 1, 2023
The tourist fee will not have to be paid for those entering Thailand on diplomatic passports or work permits, for children under the age of two, as well as for transit passengers who are in Thailand for less than one day.
The fee will be used to promote domestic tourism, as well as to provide insurance coverage for tourists during their stay in Thailand.
