From September 2, 2023, residents of China under the age of 18, in accordance with the rules approved by the CAS, will be prohibited from accessing the mobile Internet from 22:00 to 6:00. Children under the age of eight will only be allowed to use smartphones for 40 minutes a day, while teenagers aged 16 to 17 will be allowed to use smartphones for a maximum of two hours.

As explained on the official website of the State Chancellery of Internet Information of the People's Republic of China, the purpose of these innovations is to reduce the level of Internet addiction among the younger generation of Chinese and create a "favorable network environment" for them.

According to the CAS press release, it is the responsibility of the parents to enforce the rules, who can exercise control through smart terminals that are protected from bypass. Smart terminals allow you to control whether the mobile Internet and individual applications are enabled on children's smartphones.
