Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, has been released from hospital and is back home after a two-week hospital stay following unexpected abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace said on Monday.

Kate, 42, wife of heir to the British throne Prince William, is recovering quickly after surgery for an unspecified but non-cancerous condition at a London clinic, according to an official statement.

Her father-in-law, King Charles III, was being treated at the same hospital where he spent three nights following surgery scheduled for Friday to treat an enlarged prostate. Queen Camilla visited him regularly.

Kensington Palace said Kate Middleton has already returned to her home on the Windsor estate in west London. Details about her illness and surgery have not been released because members of the British royal family usually treat all medical matters as a private matter. The princess will return to her public duties only after Easter.
