Alec Baldwin could be acquitted of manslaughter charge
The protection of the artist decided to take advantage of the prosecutor's mistake.
The story of the accusation of actor Alec Baldwin in the accidental murder of cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of the film Rust last fall may unexpectedly turn in his favor.
Not so long ago, the artist was formally charged with manslaughter. The only thing left to do was to pronounce the verdict.
But Baldwin's lawyers suddenly discovered that Attorney Andrea Reeb, who was put on trial as a representative of the state, is also a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives. The combination of these two positions is contrary to the constitution.
Against this background, the defense demanded the resignation of the prosecutor and the annulment of her accusation, since she had no right to do so.
According to lawyers, the accusation can really be canceled and a new process launched. And, who knows, perhaps Baldwin will arrive at the last court session in a completely different mood.
Although experts again do not exclude that the second decision will also be accusatory. But at least some chance not to go to jail ...
