Pharrell Williams named Louis Vuitton menswear creative director
The seat has been vacant for over a year after previous LV director Virgil Abloh passed away in October 2021.
Famous American musician, rapper and trendsetter Pharrell Williams got a job in the fashion industry. Louis Vuitton has announced that the "Get Lucky" hit artist is now the new creative director of their men's collections. Previously, this position was held by Virgil Abloh, who created the US streetwear brand Off-Wite.
"(Wilms') first collection for Louis Vuitton will be shown during Paris Men's Fashion Week in June," the brand said in a social media post. “I am excited to bring Farrell home after our 2004 and 2008 collaborations for LV as Menswear Creative Director. His creative vision that transcends fashion is sure to lead LV to a new and exciting chapter,” said Pietro Beccari, CEO of the brand.
It is interesting to note that Williams and Abloh had a long friendship. And Virgil admitted in an interview that Farrell's style had a big impact on his work.
