Elton John's farewell tour could break box office records
Experts predict that the proceeds from the series of concerts in the US and the UK will be more than $1 billion.
Composer, songwriter and singer Elton John, 76, has decided to end his nearly 60-year career with the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. He did this back in 2018, but due to the pandemic and health problems, the tour was postponed and interrupted several times.
John resumed performances in January in the USA, and now he has reached the Old World. On March 23rd he played a concert at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena. Until July, he will perform in the UK and Europe. In London alone, the maestro will give ten shows, and in total he has 50 scheduled for this time.
According to the Sunday Times newspaper, fees from performances could exceed a billion dollars. To date, $817.9 million has already been received. Now the record for this indicator belongs to John's countryman, Briton Ed Sheeran. "The Divide Tour" brought the musician and organizers $776.4 million. In second place is U2 with $736.4 million.
