Weeks after winning two Grammys, Miley Cyrus is ready to debut new music. On February 28, the singer announced a long-awaited collaboration with Pharrell Williams. Their track "Doctor (Work It Out)" will be released on March 1st. The day before, Cyrus showed the cover on social networks, which depicts her in a blue fur coat and with a voluminous hairstyle like Tina Turner. She also shared an excerpt from a video clip in which she demonstrates clothes very similar to those she wore at the Grammy ceremony.

However, it turned out that Cyrus' new track is not very new.

Back to 2013...

"Doctor (Work It Out)" was recorded ten years ago while Cyrus and Williams were working on her Bangerz album. Pharrell produced tracks such as "4x4", "#GETITRIGHT", "Rooting For My Baby" and "On My Own" - all of which were later included in the final version. But “Doctor”, for some unknown reason, was put on the shelf until better times; in December 2017, its demo version hit the Internet and caused a heated discussion among fans.

Revival of "Doctor"

Williams, who became Louis Vuitton's men's director a year ago, didn't forget about "Doctor" and brought it back to life at the brand's recent fashion show. The LV men's models for the fall-winter 2024 season were shown to this song. “I could be your doctor or I could be your nanny. I think I see a problem and it's getting worse every day,” Miley sings. Her fans immediately recognized the song, but noticed that it had changed a lot. Firstly, Cyrus' vocals sound cleaner and more feminine. Secondly, despite maintaining the text of the chorus, some of the verses were rewritten.

Cyrus and Williams hadn't released anything together in a while, until the current "Doctor" revival. However, they have maintained a relationship since the recording of the Bangerz album. Miley paid tribute to Pharrell by covering his track "Come Get It Bae" from his 2014 Grammy-winning album Girl. And in 2017, she joined him on stage during Ariana Grande’s concert dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack in Manchester to perform his hit “Happy.”
