World's oldest woman dies in France aged 118

She was only a month short of her 119th birthday.

Lucille Randon, better known as Sister André, died in France a month before her 119th birthday.

The future record holder was born on February 11, 1904, and the Frenchwoman was recognized as the oldest inhabitant of the planet in the spring of 2022 after the death of the Japanese woman Kane Tanaka, who at that time was one hundred and nineteen.

Although at the moment the absolute record is the longevity of another native of France. Jeanne Louise Calment (1875-1997) lived to be one hundred and twenty-two.

As for Andre's sister, experts argued that earlier her health was quite tolerable for her age, and she could still live.

But in 2021, the woman suffered a coronavirus, the consequences of which did not allow the elderly body to recover.
