Why do cats prefer women

Cats are, of course, much more independent animals than dogs, but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy interacting with us or that they're incapable of making connections. In fact, there are representatives of the cat family, which are distinguished by their special sociability and affection.

However, cats can also be moody and will often choose humans as their pet for reasons that are not always completely clear. However, many people notice that felines most often prefer women, and this connection is especially strong and durable. But what is the reason?

The truth is that this fact is influenced at once by a whole combination of factors. This conclusion after the study was made by experts from the University of Vienna and published in the specialized journal Behavioral Processes.

First, it has been found that women tend to interact with felines more than men. And cats are able to remember this kindness or attention and return it in the future.

In other words: as long as they are not burdened with excessive attention, cats respond favorably to someone who pays them more attention.

Women have the ability to pick up on the subtle cues that cats give when they need attention, notice them sooner, and respond faster.

Another factor that seems to influence cats' preference for women is voice. In women, it is usually softer, and for cats that have excellent hearing, this is especially important. Men's voices sound a little more aggressive to them.

To prove the above, the Austrian scientists recorded all interactions between 41 cats and their owners over a long period of time, assessing the characteristics and personality of each animal and owner.

Experts have not only confirmed that cats prefer women, but that there is a certain profile of a woman who seems to go further than others in her relationships with felines. In particular, it is the youngest and most sociable women who achieve the greatest understanding with them.
