He was captain of the England team and won the Champions League.

Former England national soccer team defender Gary Cahill announced the end of his playing career.

"I achieved what I dreamed of. From the amazing heights of winning the Champions League and the Premier League, to the honor of being captain of the national team and Chelsea in the FA Cup-winning team," he wrote on his microblog.

Cahill, 36, has spent his entire club career in England. He played most of his time for Bolton (2008-2012) and Chelsea (2012-2019). His last team was Bournemouth, which he left at the end of last season.

He played 61 games for the England national team and scored 5 goals.
