Former England striker Gary Lineker called Argentina's 1-2 loss to Saudi Arabia in the first round of the World Cup group stage a major disappointment.
"This is one of the biggest disappointments in World Cup history. An extraordinary performance by the Saudi team," Lineker wrote on his microblog.
The Saudis in Group C Round 1, after losing after a Lionel Messi goal from a penalty in the 10th minute, scored twice early in the second half after strikes from Saleh Al-Shehri (48) and Salem Al-Dawsari (53). In honor of the victory in Saudi Arabia, November 23 was declared a day off.
