Croatia defeated Japan in a penalty shootout

Three of the penalty kicks were deflected by Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.

The Croatian national team defeated Japan in the 1/8 finals of the FIFA World Cup - 1:1, penalty shootout. 3:1.

In regulation time, Daizen Maeda (43) scored for the Japanese team, while Ivan Perisic (55) for the Croatians. In extra time, none of the opponents scored.

In the penalty shootout, Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic stopped shots by Takumi Minamino, Kaoru Mitoma and Maya Yoshida. The Japanese goalkeeper repulsed an 11-meter shot by Marko Livaj.

Croatia will play Brazil or South Korea in the quarterfinals.
