RPL ranked 80th in the ranking of soccer leagues in the world
The Russian championship was weaker than the Estonian and Zambian championships.
The Russian Football Championship ranks 80th in the ranking of soccer leagues in the world, published by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Among the tournaments inferior to the RPL are the championships of Estonia, Nicaragua, the Faroe Islands, Northern Macedonia, Nigeria, Belarus and Zambia.
The top ten includes the championships of Brazil, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Argentina and Paraguay.
Russian clubs were excluded from participation in European Cup season 2022/23.
