Jamal Hill becomes UFC champion after defeating Glover Teixeira in Rio
The Brazilian fighter failed to demonstrate his best qualities.
In the main event of UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro on the night of January 22, Brazilian Glover Teixeira and US representative Jamal Hill entered the octagon to challenge the vacant light heavyweight title.
Despite some status as the Brazilian's favorite, the first two rounds were clearly taken by the American. And in the rest of the time, Hill clearly dominated.
By the final round, the American fighter was one hundred percent leading on points, and still tried to finish the fight ahead of schedule.
Teixeira, at the cost of incredible efforts and a broken face, endured until the final gong. But the judges quite rightly gave the victory to the American. Jamal Hill is the new UFC light heavyweight champion.
