Barry Trotz: Ovechkin and Crosby saved hockey
The former mentor of “Washington” called the Russian one of the greatest scorers.
Former Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz gave an excellent assessment of Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin.
"The impact he had on hockey throughout his career makes him a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest scorers of all time. And the one who saved hockey. He and Sidney Crosby saved hockey," The Athletic quoted him as saying.
Trotz noted the highest physical readiness of Ovechkin: in this quality he surpasses even Mark Messier.
According to the specialist, many children imitate Ovechkin.
"How many kids tie yellow shoelaces or tuck in jerseys, use his club and his mannerisms?" Trotz said.
