Gretzky is ready to fly to the match where Ovechkin will beat his record
Now the Russian is separated from the record by 82 goals.
Canadian forward Wayne Gretzky has said he is ready to attend a match in which Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin will break his record if the Washington Capitals provide.
At the moment, Gretzky is the NHL record holder for the number of goals in the regular season (894), Ovechkin, who plays for Washington, takes 2nd place (812).
"If Ted Leonsis gives me his plane, I'll fly anywhere," Gretzky told NBC Sports.
