Legendary John McEnroe urged to allow Russian tennis players to Wimbledon
Last year, Russians and Belarusians were refused.
The famous American tennis player and former first racket of the world John McEnroe called on the organizers of Wimbledon to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in the tournament.
Last season, Wimbledon became the only Grand Slam tournament that refused to participate in the Russians and Belarusians, for which the ATP was punished with a fine and deprivation of points.
Wimbledon organizers have already said this year that they are going to revise their last year's sanctions.
John McEnroe strongly supported this statement, saying that “the situation with the suspension of any athlete from any competition does not look normal. Athletes cannot be punished for something they have nothing to do with."
The Wimbledon tournament in 2023 will be held from July 3 to 16, and there is a big chance that the Russians and Belarusians will go there.
