Portuguese coach takes charge of Qatar national team

Carlos Queiroz has become the new head coach of the Qatar national football team.

The contract with the 69-year-old Portuguese is calculated until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Until recently, Queiroz led the Iranian national team, with which he could not qualify from the group at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Prior to that, he worked with the national teams of Portugal, Egypt, Colombia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

The Qatar national team participated in the World Cup for the first time in 2022, losing all 3 matches of the group stage.
