The IOC spoke about the distribution of medals for the team tournament

Completion of the doping investigation into the case of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva is in the interests of all interested parties.

The decision on the distribution of medals in the team competitions of the 2022 Olympic Games will be made only after the speedy completion of the doping investigation against figure skater Kamila Valieva. This is stated in a statement by the International Olympic Committee, which is quoted by USA Today.

“Since the case concerns a drug test that was taken outside the Olympic Games but which affected the results of the team and individual competitions, the IOC hopes that the case will be resolved as quickly as possible. It is also in the interests of all parties involved, especially athletes, who have not yet been able to receive their Beijing 2022 medals. Only the completion of the investigation of the case will allow the ISU to announce the final results of the team tournament, and the IOC to decide on the distribution of medals," the statement said.

Valieva's doping test revealed that trimetazidine was present in her sample. It is only known that the test result was published only during the Beijing Olympic Games in February 2022, by which time the Russian figure skater had already won gold in the team event.

The RUSADA Committee found Kamila Valieva not guilty in the doping case. At the same time, the results of the CR-2022 were revised.
