The women's sprint race ended at the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof, Germany. The winner was the German biathlete Denise Hermann, who covered 7.5 km in 21 minutes 19.7 seconds, closing all the targets on two firing lines.

Hanna Oeberg of Sweden finished second, just 2.2 seconds ahead of her compatriot Lynn Persson (+26.2). The Swedes also never missed.

Earlier, Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina lost in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Abu Dhabi.
