The Russian striker broke the record held since 1971.

Russian forward of Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin became the oldest hockey player in NHL history who managed to score 50 goals in a season.

He beat Johnny Butsik's record of 70/71. He was 35 years old then and Ovechkin is 36 years old now.
