Thomas Bach says it's "too early" to talk about a boycott of Russia
Consultations are currently underway with the Olympic committees of all countries and various sports federations in order to “take a look at everything” about the position of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions
International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach assured that it is "too early" to talk about Russia's participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Bach made these statements at a meeting with international media on the second day of his working visit to Havana, Cuba, and when asked about a possible boycott, he stated: "I want to be very clear: it's not time to talk about the Paris Olympics yet. Too much it's too early to talk about any boycott."
The IOC President explained that consultations are currently underway with the Olympic Committees of all countries and various sports federations in order to “consider everything” about the position of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions in the coming months.
Upon completion of these consultations, he added, the IOC will offer a "recommendation".
