A throne made of pucks was installed at Washington Arena

So celebrated his December achievement, when Ovechkin became the second sniper in NHL history.

A throne made of hockey pucks was installed at the Washington Capitals' home arena in honor of Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin.

It is made of 802 pucks and is mounted on the background of the club's emblem - a white-headed eagle. On the wings of the bird, which are lined with pucks, is a silhouette of Ovechkin and the slogan "The Gr8 Chase", dedicated to the Russian hockey player's pursuit of the sniper record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky.

The 802th puck in the NHL, Ovechkin scored in December 2022, allowed him to enter the 2nd place in the league's all-time snipers list, beating Canadian Gordie Howe. Now Ovechkin scored 819 pucks in regular championships, while Gretzky had 894.

Alexander Ovechkin is in fourth place in NHL history in goals scored in home games
