Mike Tyson reveals why he called David Benavidez a 'Mexican monster'

Tyson admitted that he would be afraid to fight Benavidez in the same division.

Mike Tyson gave the reason for calling David Benavidez a "Mexican monster", noting that he is a fan of the style that Benavidez displays in his fights.

“He is someone who polarizes a lot and has too much power and intensity. I would be afraid to fight him in this division too. Nobody wants to fight him and I don’t blame them,” Tyson said in an interview with the Esnews YouTube channel .

Benavidez was born in Arizona but is related to Mexico by his father José, who hails from the state of Guerrero. From an early age, Benavidez moved to the United States, where he gradually began to build his path in professional boxing.

David is also known by the nickname El Banner Roja, but in several of his fights he was proud of his Mexican roots, and went to fights with the flag of the country and a sombrero. In addition to his Mexican ancestry, Benavidez also has Ecuadorian ancestry on his mother's side.

David Benavidez and Caleb Plant will fight on March 25th. At stake will be Benavidez's interim WBC super middleweight title. Currently, Benavidez is 26-0 with 23 knockouts, while Caleb Plant is 22-1 with 13 knockouts.
