Hervé Renard appointed head of the French women's national team

Hervé Renard has been appointed head coach of the French women's national team until August 2024.

Hervé Renard has officially replaced the former coach of Clermont (Ligue 2), the French Football Federation (FFF) said in a statement Thursday, March 30. The 57-year-old Savoy, who had been the favorite for the job for several days, turned down a long and high-paying contract that bound him until 2027 with the Saudi national team, whose national team he was still in charge of the previous weekend.

"Following an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee this Thursday afternoon, the French Football Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Hervé Renard as head coach of the French women's national team until August 2024," the statement said.

The new head coach will lead the Blues at the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, and at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris from July 25 to August 10.
