Petrosian's first jumps, Valieva's overcoming, and the empress Tuktamysheva
Russian skaters in the season without international competitions showed bright programs at domestic starts.
Women's figure skating has always been an jewel in any competition. And not only from a visual point of view, although the beautiful costumes and smooth movements are really fascinating. At first glance, small and fragile skaters are an example of inimitable strength, they perform the most difficult technical elements - not every skater in men's skating would repeat such cascades. Last season was rich in beautiful and emotional free skating programs with a variety of difficult elements - and their vivid execution.
Adelia Petrosyan, Russian Grand Prix finals
Music: Jun Miyake - The Locked Room
The 15-year-old student of Eteri Tutberidze was not supposed to participate in the Russian Grand Prix finals: she did not pass the qualifying stage and took part only in one stage of the series. But at the last moment the young skater was included in the finals of the tournament, and she was right.
In her free skating Petrosian performed a very difficult technical routine. She managed to do a quadruple flip and a cascade of a quadruple tolop and a double axel. Although nowadays she performs the flip very rarely, Petrosian began to do so only this season. The free skating routine was full of mistakes, but that did not prevent her from beating Kamila Valieva and coming in first in both programs.
Sofia Akatieva, final of Russian Championship
Music: Welcome to Earth (soundtrack)
Sophia Akatieva, another figure skater of Eteri Tutberidze, showed the best skating performance at the Russian Championship - and it brought her the gold medal. In the free skating program she performed a quadruple toe loop and a cascade of a quadruple toe loop - double axel, jumped triple rittberger, triple lutz - triple toe loop, triple flip - triple salchow over an oiler, triple lutz.
Sophia received 164.15 points and won the final score of 249.74.
Kamila Valieva, the final of the Russian Championship
Music: Einaudi - Low mist Var. 1 (day 5)
Kamila Valieva's free skating program was the best at the Russian Championship. The skater got 170.71 points for it, but it was not enough to win.
Valiyeva program has changed over the course of the season. For example, she now performed without a hood, which covered her face at the end of the performance. But this did not diminish her emotional performance.
Valieva rolled a four-touloupe and a double axel, but in the final frame she made some big mistakes, falling off the triple loop. But despite this, her program was the best, and at the end of the championship the figure skater came in second.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, final of the Russian championship
Music: Igor Krutoy - Loneliness
For Elizaveta Tuktamysheva the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk was the 15th in her career. This season the loneliness was her crowning achievement. In the finals of the Russian Championships she eliminated all the quadruple jumps. She performed a triple axel and a double axel cleanly, followed by a simple triple axel, which has long been her trademark. As figure skater coach Alexei Mishin said after the performance, this element was Tuktamysheva's best ever at the championship. The skater also did a triple loop - triple toe loop, double flip, double axel - triple salchov over oiler, triple lutz and triple rittberger.
The skater got 158,74 points for free skating and won the bronze medal at the end of the tournament.
