Yang Nepomniachtchi beats Ding Liren with Black and takes the lead
The Russian beats the Chinese chess player in the second game of the 14-round world championship in Astana.
Playing black, Russian grandmaster Yang Nepomniachtchi defeated Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren in 29 moves in the 2nd game of the World Chess Championship 2023. The first game ended in a draw.
Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren play for the world title after chess king Magnus Carlsen "abdicates the throne". Over the next few weeks they will play 14 rounds. At the moment, the score is 1.5:05 in favor of the Russian. The winner will be determined when one of the contenders for the chess crown reaches 7.5 points.
